There will be a short stop at the famous Temppeliaukio Church, excavated in rock as well as the Sibelius Monument before the tour ends at the Esplanade Park. The entrance fee to Temppeliaukio church (3 euros) is not included. The comfortable double decker tour bus is air conditioned and heated during the winter and has a free Wi-Fi.
OPTIONAL: Visit Suomenlinna. After the sightseeing tour, walk the short distance to the Market Square where you can get a ferry for one of Finland’s UNESCO World Heritage Sights, Suomenlinna Sea Fortress leaves (use Helsinki Card for a free ferry ride). Suomenlinna is actually a district of Helsinki with year-round inhabitants but it also has a long history as maritime fortress that has served in the defense of three different nations: Sweden, Russia and Finland. The ferry ride over takes approximately 15-20 minutes and gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy Helsinki from the sea perspective and snap some photos too. You can download a brochure of the island here to plan your visit in advance. After visiting the island take the ferry back to the mainland.
OPTIONAL: Looking for some culture? Your Helsinki Card includes free entrance to many fascinating museums, for example to Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Art Musem Ateneum and National Museum in the city centre. During the summertime you can hop on a tram no 4 and visit Seurasaari open-air museum, which is located on a beautiful green island just a few kilometres from the heart of Helsinki.
OPTIONAL: Dinner. Eating is pretty informal in Finland, and meals are available at all times of a day. For dinner you might like to taste typical Finnish food. Check the restaurant tips and discounts from the leaflet that you received with your Helsinki Card. Some restaurants are closed on Sundays or public holidays, but for example restaurant Zetor is open every day all year round.
